Be Creative

The Morning Call (Allentown, PA), November 15, 2005

Creativity allows for fun and stimulating ways to de-stress. So go ahead and express yourself through art, music, theater, dance, writing, or some other creative outlet such as a hobby. The goal is expression. No talent required.
No desire for expression? Then perhaps you can take a few minutes to absorb and appreciate the creativity of others. Visit a museum. Go to a show. Attend a poetry reading. Eat a gourmet meal. These activities will activate your mind and engage your senses. We all need these periodic jump-starts to get out of our daily ruts.
It has been said that variety is the spice of life. This is so true. You will benefit by using different parts of your brain, and creative tasks are a way of adding variety and achieving balance.
Some creative activities that help me de-stress include doing jigsaw puzzles, tap dancing, and writing poetry. Here is one of my poems which I hope will help stimulate creative ideas of your own.
