It's Your Choice

The Morning Call (Allentown, PA), January 30, 2007

Do you see the roses, or the thorns? Is the glass half-empty or half-full? There are many ways to view the world and our perceptions play a role in how we feel and how we respond. For better or for worse, we co-create our own realities.
A positive attitude and a healthy dose of optimism can minimize stress. Although life can be scary, unfair, and challenging, a hopeful outlook can make the daily stresses easier to bear. The right frame of mind can mean the difference between taking productive action and giving up. The choice is yours.
It is important to keep a realistic perspective. Neither excessive optimism nor excessive pessimism will lead to the best outcome. However, an appropriate amount of optimism can be beneficial. Little Orphan Annie had the right idea when she sang, “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow.”
